Most people don’t know this about me, but when I was a kid, I was a nerd.
I was perfectly content reading fantasy novels and playing video games in my room and NOT doing anything active.
In fact, my dream was to someday get paid to write my own fantasy novels about dragons and witches and orcs…
By the time I was 13, my parents had enough and wanted me to become more active.
So they hired a tennis instructor named Michelle to teach me how to play tennis.
How A Crush On My Tennis Instructor Helped Me Get Ripped…
Now, I wasn’t really excited about tennis in the beginning, but I really wanted to impress Michelle because I had a huge crush on her.
So in my attempts to get better at hitting the ball and running around the court, I started getting better and actually started to like tennis.
In fact – and keep in mind I was a nerd and was even the president of the chess club – I started to see tennis as a physical game of chess.
So I wanted to get better for a few reasons.
Then my dad made a move that I’ll always be thankful for:
He brought home a set of dumbells.
And because I wanted to get better at tennis, I used them to do bicep curls like the guys in the movies I watched… and eventually taught myself to do squats and shoulder presses and a few other things I learned along the way.
I became much better at tennis and even started to look better, which I figured would help in my pursuit of Michelle.
Over time, I started playing basketball and soccer and I migrated from the fantasy section of the library over to the health and fitness section.
I went from geek to jock… From writing fantasy novels to studying exercise science and sports training in college.
Before long, I was working at sports camps, personal training, and running the wellness program at the university.
Things were going great, until I realized I was making a big mistake.
A Potentially Deadly Mistake…
See, I was obsessed with making the body look good… Making people stronger, faster, more powerful, and look better in their swimsuits…
But what I didn’t know, and what I wasn’t taught at university, was how to eat right, take care of the body, and make it healthy on the inside.
I wish I’d have known then what I know now, because I could have helped so many more people. My personal training clients were getting great results, but they’d continue to complain about skin issues, lack of libido, injuries, sore joints, bloating and stomach issues, and trouble sleeping.
I fell into the same “syndrome” as a majority of fitness experts and personal trainers… I was obsessed with the fitness component, and I thought a good workout could fix everything.
See, growing up, every week my parents would take us through the McDonalds drive through on 39 cent burger night…
And we’d leave with dozens upon dozens of burgers.
So I would gobble down dozens of greasy burgers, sugary cereals, pizzas, and you-name-it every week.
My diet started to shift in college, and I started to eat a little bit better.
I even became a competitive body builder.
But I was still eating the WRONG foods.
I felt horrible. My gut was a mess. I couldn’t sleep. I struggled with the skin issues and joint pain and injuries.
And then I met Jessa, the woman who changed the way I viewed… well… pretty much everything.[/text_block]
The Weird Health Tricks Of An
To be completely honest with you, I thought certain things she did were weird.
See, while I grew up guzzling down fast food and sugary cereal and watching TV for entertainment…
Jessa would spend time in the kitchen preparing wholesome meals, and she’d end the day watching the sunset quietly on the patio with a glass of red wine.
She made me think about the ancestral lifestyle and the things that were lost by always having your face in front of a screen.
Her lifestyle was completely different from all these people around me who exercised constantly, but their bodies were falling apart.
They were healthy on the outside, but not the inside. They were always getting hurt or dealing with bad sleep, gut issues, or skin issues.
I saw it happening to them, and it was happening to me too, so I realized I needed to get to work to learn how to fix all those issues, naturally.

What I came to realize over 10 years of research and the most grueling competitions on earth was that vitality, life, fitness, looking good and feeling good, and performing well, all go way beyond exercise.

For most people, roughly 80% of the results you seek come from your diet, and 20% come from your exercise. Obviously your environment, sleep, cortisol, exposure to chemicals, and a host of other things play a significant role… But the bottom line is working out nonstop is NOT the best way to get healthy.
So Jessa and I began to discover, learn, create, and perfect systems for all of these things.
Of course, along the way, we had children, and we learned how to create a healthy family, how to nourish babies, how to fill kids up with the right kind of nutrients, how to make them smarter, and how to grow their brains.
Over the course of a lot of trial and error, we simplified all of these systems and began to live every single day in a really cool, balanced, healthy way.
5 Quick & Natural Tips To Burn Fat, Get Ripped, & Exponentially Increase Your Health:
Let’s face it, it’s easy to get bogged down by a busy schedule.
Between raising and homeschooling two little boys, training for Iron Man Triathlons, and running our businesses, Jessa and I weren’t immune to feeling overwhelmed.
Therefore, optimizing the efficiency of everything we do – from our workouts to what we put in our bodies – was essential to our fast-paced lifestyle.

Sleep is one of the most important components of health.
It is during your deep sleep stages, particularly between 2am and 6am, that your body’s core temperature drops and nervous system repair and recovery takes place.
So to increase energy, reduce stress, get rid of “brain fog” and recover more quickly, you need to get better sleep.
Now, there are several ways to improve your sleep quality, such as avoiding blue light wave spectrums from computer screens in the evening, keeping your room slightly cold, using black-out curtains or a sleep mask and much, much more.
And we go into depth on how to improve your sleep in our Inner Circle, which I’ll tell you more about in just a minute…
But the bottom line is that prioritizing sleep – as busy as your schedule may be – will increase your productivity, decrease your stress levels, and help you recover more quickly.[/text_block]
I’ll let you in on a little secret:
Exercising and beating up your body with a ton of physical activity is NOT an ideal way to put yourself into maximum fat burning mode or to shrink your waistline.
Instead, light levels of physical activity or mild “discomfort” throughout the day is the true way to maximize the activity of fat burning enzymes.
This includes using strategies such as a standing workstation, taking cold showers, avoiding sitting for long periods of time, using deep diaphragmatic breathing, implementing intermittent fasting, and using a host of other “unconventional” fat loss techniques.
For example, I have a bunch of rules that I follow throughout the day. These rules force me to do multiple sets of particular fat-burning exercises and take less than 5 minutes at a time.
Burning fat all day long is another hot topic we discuss in depth in the Inner Circle.
Ultimately, it’s not that you should avoid exercise – it’s just that you need to learn how to “bio-hack” your entire life to maximize fat loss, rather than relying on the inconvenience of a gym to do it![/text_block]
I have a confession that shocks most people:
I don’t really like going to the gym, so I don’t go very often.
However, I do like building muscle.
Muscle is youth. Muscle boosts metabolism. Muscle makes you look tight and toned.
And to be clear, muscle does NOT mean you have to look like a freaky, swollen bodybuilder.
It simply means that you expose your body now and again to heavy loads that initiate a lean muscle fiber building response and a hormonal response that improves things such as longevity and fat loss…
And makes you look good in a t-shirt or pair of fitted jeans!
For example, I keep a pull-up bar installed in the door of my office. Every time I walk under that bar, I have a rule that I must do 5 pull-ups.
Another rule is that I must do 20 body weight squats when I use the restroom.
I also try to lift something heavy at least once per day – whether it’s wrestling with my kids, finding something heavy to carry up a hill on a hike, or lifting a barbell out in the garage.
By doing activities like those, and the others we discuss in the Inner Circle, you’ll constantly build lean muscle and improve your metabolism.[/text_block]
One of the most important yet overlooked components of your health and well-being is your gut.
Over ¾ of your immune system is in your digestive tract, and that entire system is protected by a thin, fragile lining.
